How the calculation works
The bottom of a pond is the top length and width less 2 × side slope × depth. Each side is a trapezoid whose sloping length is depth × √(1 + slope²). The anchor trench adds its runout-and-trench allowance along the whole top edge, and seam overlap and wastage go on top. Weight is area × thickness × resin density (HDPE 0.94, LDPE 0.92 g/cm³). Example: a 50 × 30 m pond, 3 m deep with 2:1 sides, needs 1,836 m² net and about 1,965 m² of 1.5 mm HDPE, about 2,770 kg. Protection geotextile: RNW 400 GSM for ponds and canals, 600 GSM for flat areas such as landfill capping.
